Description

Badlands Contracting is an EPC firm focused on building infrastructure in the Williston Basin. Our model is to provide full integration from conception to commissioning for clients in the oil and gas industry. Badlands Contracting specializes in project development, facility and pipeline design, procurement, construction management and field construction services.

Job Summary

The Facilities Engineer is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure and equipment of buildings and facilities. The engineer will analyze operational procedures, resource distribution, energy consumption, and safety procedures, and make recommendations for improvement. 


Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform engineering tasks and calculations for oil and gas projects, inclusive of:

o Pipe sizing and pressure loss calculations.

o Read and apply piping specifications.

o Support piping specification in AutoCAD.

o Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.

o Assist in the preparation of drawings, plans, and design reports.

• Read and interpret codes, specifications, and engineering standards.

• Learn industry practices and engineering calculations.

• Completes assignments using engineering principles and techniques.

• Ability to interact with all levels of staff including senior management, clients, construction managers and other disciplines.

• Ability to travel to support field work activities periodically (including site commissioning).

• Ability to prioritize workflow, multitask, meet deadlines and remain flexible.


Required Skills & Abilities

• Excellent communication and effective interpersonal skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Strong analytical and communication skills.

• The candidate must be self-motivated and have good communication and organizational skills.

• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time for construction and operational field support.


Education & Experience:

Basic

Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field required. 


Education & Experience:

Preferred

• EIT license and or certification

• Oil and gas experience preferred but not required.


Physical Requirements

The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job (but are not limited to). The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods of time, unassisted. Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to operate office machinery are required. This job also requires a full range of body motion to include handling and lifting. The incumbent must repeatedly lift and/or move up to 30 (THIRTY) pounds unassisted. Visual acuity, hearing, speaking, reading, and writing must be adequate to perform all required tasks safely. 


Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Work is usually done indoors and sometimes 

(rarely) at a client facility or job site. The incumbent may be expected to travel to other work sites with prior notice.
